After a delay of the field trial due to technical problems in the hydrogen generation plant, the field trial “Underground Sun Storage“ has now been launched successfully. According to schedule, a mixture of hydrogen and natural gas will be injected into the trial reservoir over a period of 3 months. This is done to investigate whether renewable energy in the form of hydrogen can be stored in existing underground gas storage structures. The results of this field trial are anticipated for the end of this year.
